We make a call to organized sectors in La Guajira, mayors, council members, the political and civic leadership, the unions, and the people in general to support and join this call for a permanent and indefinite strike.
This strike is divided into the following steps :

1. Stage of dialogue and joint consultation between the various sectors of the department to define a statement of requests which must contain the most heartfelt aspirations of those sectors and the general population. This stage must end on august 27.
2. Discussion of these requests with the national government, ecopetrol , Chevron/Texaco, Cerrejon, through an organized negotiation . This will be handed to the government on the 29 of august by a commission composed of Wayuu palabreros (cultural voice-men), stating the need of an answer within 15 days. If the national government fail to answer, we will begin the indefinite department strike.
